Dogs Play. Dogs Get Dirty. Dogs Need Baths.

My wife Cara and I have 2 dogs.  Their names are Sally and Harry.  They are sweet floppy eared Vizslas.  They love to run, splash in the creek, and explore.  During their adventures they have little regard for the mud and ticks that latch on to them like little hitchhikers.  This little problem leaves us at a bit of a dilemma.  We want Sally and Harry to express all their dogness.  They are at their happiest when they are running at top speed through the grass seeing and smelling all that the world has to offer.  To keep them in a confined play area free from mud and ticks means that we would not allow them to do what they love most.

Cara and I have decided to take the more difficult path and let them enjoy life to the fullest.  This choice means that we frequently have muddy tick ridden pups.  When we get to door to go inside, I pick them up one at a time, trying to keep them from dripping all over the floor, and I race them to the bathroom.  I then give them a bath and a thorough inspection and remove all the ticks with tweezers.  During this process, they each will shake the water and any mud I have not yet washed off them all over everything.  After I have given them each a bath, I then must wash the walls of the bathroom and clean up anything that dripped off them when I carried them into the bathroom.

I am sure that right now you are either picturing yourself and your dog/s doing a similar thing, or you are thinking, “why doesn’t he just take those sweet pups to Ani-Pals?”  That is the right question to be asking.  Don’t worry… I have learned from my mistakes.  I no longer bother trying to bath Sally and Harry at home.  Any time they get covered in mud or ticks or both I get them in the car, and I take them to Ani-Pals.  The team at Ani-Pals is prepared with a large walk-in bathing area for big and little dogs alike.  The shelves are stocked with shampoos to help with dry skin, remove fleas and ticks, and give your pup a silky-smooth coat.  Just yesterday Sally and Harry got this luxury treatment, and they are still smelling great.

The moral of the story is that no one wants mud flung across their bathroom or ticks crawling everywhere.  The solution is simple.  Bring your pup to Ani-Pals.  You won’t regret it.

Dog Boarding at Ani-Pals

All about Dog Boarding. A guide to setting your dog up for a vacation while you are away.

Us humans need to leave town from time to time. We need to go visit family, go on vacation, go on business trips, etc. It would be great if our furry loved ones could join us on all our adventures, but many time it just isn’t practical or even possible. When these situations are on the horizon the team at Ani-Pals would love to be of service to you and your pup/s.

Here is how the process works…

  1. Make a reservation

    1. Reserve online

    2. Call us - 913-422-8108

    3. Email us – stay@ani-pals.com

  2. Email or bring us their vaccination records, or have your vet email them to us

    1. DHPP vaccine also known as DAPP or DA2PP

    2. Rabies (every 1 or 3 years)

  3. Pack for their stay

    1. Food (we do have our own house kibble if you are unable to bring your own)

      1. Dogs do best on food they are used to.  It is common for dogs to get diarrhea if they switch food all of the sudden.

    2. Toys / Blankets

      1. Items from home can make dogs feel more comfortable when they are in an unfamiliar place.

    3. Medications

      1. Please make whoever checks you in aware of the meds and how/when to give them.

  4. Come to Ani-Pals

    1. Our team will greet you and your pup/s at the door.

    2. We will get you checked in and review your dog/s’ info

    3. We will walk your dog to their home away from home while you head off on your adventures.

  5. Come back to Ani-Pals

    1. Our team will check you and your pup/s out and say goodbye until their next visit

While at Ani-Pals your pup/s will get to enjoy both their indoor suite area, but also their outdoor covered patio.  Many times throughout each day your dog/s will be let out from their suite to go and play in our outdoor play runs.  Each dog / dog family has the entire run to enjoy.  We do not do group play times.

If you would like you pup pampered even a bit more, consider adding a bath, pup cup, or peanut butter lick mat to their stay.  Our team loves giving every dog the best stay possible so you can enjoy your adventure without worry about your dog.

If you have any other questions about how boarding your dog at Ani-Pals works, please don’t hesitate to call or email us.  We want you to feel at ease knowing that your furry family member/s is being well cared for.
